Hey All. Been gone a long time, but just got a mini lathe and figured I'd do a M@g mod.
Modified a 3D M@g.
Here is a video
http://youtu.be/DDxwQN1jTjU
Short version is:
1. Removed switch, spring, metal cup etc...
2. Cut plastic "tower" off of top.
3. Cut negative prong off.
4. Machined heat sink
4a. Single point threaded heat sink to 20tpi
5. Machined two plastic spacers...one is a retainer for spring inside body...other is contact for positive through heat sink via a wire.
6. Machined small slug for contact with positive via new spring
7. Machined head so that lens doesn't rattle.
8. Attached two Cree XM-L2 LED's.
9. Soldered LED's in parallel.
10. Attached two lens holders.
11. Assembled and tested
Works great. It's direct drive with no resistance in series.
