Like the title says, I've got a Streamlight ProTac HL that absolutely EATS 123s. All my other hand-helds run 18650s, but of course Streamlight & Surefires don't accept those. So I want to bore out the body enough to accept 18650s (I'm not gonna be using it on a weapon, so no issues with recoil breaking the protection circuit in the rechargeables). It looks as if the LED itself and the circuit board are all contained within the head assembly, and the body screws into that but doesn't contain any parts.
So, before I stick it in a padded vise and take a strap wrench to the head to try & unscrew it, has anyone successfully taken one of these apart? Anything I need to know before I try?
