Kudos to these children (and others) for their efforts to improve their neighborhood.

The parishioners at St. Anthony of Padua will take to the city's Von Nieda Park with flashlights for a vigil on Wednesday, January 15, hoping to draw attention to the need for better lighting and security at the playground.

It appears that a group of local students, with support from the church, has taken it upon themselves to improve a local park once described as "The Nation's Most Depressing Park." After two years of work involving monthly cleanups, painting and other improvements they are now asking local officials for improved lighting and security. The vigil is intended to "show what a difference lights make in the park."

Unfortunately New Jersey is a little too far away for me to participate but I wanted to share in case any CPF'ers in the area wanted to help light up the night! You can get more information at the Un-Dark the Park Facebook event page.
