Hi everyone, having got a fair bit of info off here over the last little while, I thought I would give back a little.

Just thought I would write up a few thoughts on my new LLP7.2. Go easy all you Flash-a-holics, remember this is only my experience based on normal day to day use, I am not at all concerned with the tint of the light or blinding astronauts etc, etc.

Firstly the build quality seems excellent, especially the new tail switch which is a lot better than the previous generation. It does feel really solid in the hand and the slide focus is easy to operate one handed (without feeling wobbly or loose). It is easily pocketable, but certainly not an everyday carry size.

The light output is more than adequate for what I require, and I really enjoy the ability to switch from flood to spot. For example, I was changing a fuse in a fuse box last night and I had it on the low setting with flood focus; the previous afternoon I was under a house and I was able to check out the condition of some stumps on the other end of the house with the high setting and spot focus.

The battery life seems fine so far, especially for the intermittent use I use it for in both my home and work life, and AAAs are cheap and easy to get.

I really like the simple interface: First click for high, second click for low, push again for off. Push and hold for boost. Maybe a third click would be nice for strobe, but hey, first world problems..

I also like that if anything goes wrong with it, I can return it easily.

I have sewed up and old head-strap with a loop of elastic so I can use it on my head (it is not a light you can comfortably hold in your mouth), after searching high and low for a helmet mount without success, I have decided to design and print my own and will let you all know how that goes.

Cheers, and have a great day!

Tristan.

If you count a light who's brightness dims with the cells draining as NOT DD, OK.

:D

Resistors are just to get the alkaleaks to reach the LED Vf / amps though IIRC.

regulation and direct drive are 2 different things. lenser p5 is not dd but dims with draining cells. i really want to know how far p7.2 can overdrive with 4 nimh with no resistance

Hold the turbo button in. Apparently that has no resistors but there is resistance in the holder and switch. Was measured on a German forum somewhere. Someone here had measured that it was 1.1A so it wasn't being over driven as the LED is an XP-G(2?). It would have been over driven on the old model even with AAA NiMH. Would be interesting on Eneloop XX AAA's.

1.1a seems too low. all 2014 models seem to use 2nd gen cree( or a derivative from it since it has the same die surface ). has anyone tried with 4aaa dd on xpg2?

So is the led an xpg2

I love mine, great light, couple of fresh pics as brought home from work
t7.2 flavour

Couple of easy checks/tips to make sure not a copy, the .2 models are a bit new yet but applies the same along with older lensers.Make sure the code is lined up to the end of the .2 so ends at same point(not always from centre of lenser symbol)

also check contacts, they should be silver not gold as found in a lot of fakes...(springs are gold)

Yes you see lube on the plastic, makes it very smooth and feels much nicer when changing cells:D

Stealth pic in matte flavour

Hi ven:

Some nice torch porn there...

They make really nice stuff. The only problem it is too versatile so you feel more guilty about buying more lights you REALLY don't need.

fake uses gold contacts?
Correct ,the springs are gold but the positive contact should be a silver contact.
Also the + symbols are different too.
Have a google on fake lensers and what to look for ,quite a bit of info so you have to do a little research on it.
Reputable seller
Lenser official dealer
Check shop id out, look into where they are from and how many shops/names they have had(some 5+ in 12 months.....from china)

P7 was the light that got me hooked on lights. Put a glass lens on it and regulate it and I'd prob buy it again.

m7 is regulated but no glass lens.........

They are pretty tough though, not sure how they or if they could make it glass being the shape/design it is for flood/throw zoomable.

None of my lights have took a beating like my old t7,dropped 100s of times over the years onto factory floors from height...........
Can see the chip in the lens, took many many drops

This is a fake carrier, what it looks like for the older t7 or p7

Look at the gold contact and the + symbol...........not lenser

Glad to hear. I will prob break out my P or T7's out tonight. It's been awhile. I have to admit that Coast seems to have a good warranty. I sent one in once for a failing switch and they put a new lens on it and gave me a holster.
