I have the 2 x 123 LS Brookstone light and a DB400 and Q2H HD Star in front of me...and I can't get the frelling bezel to budge!

I've used the heat gun to heat the bezel to toasty warm, and then applied the Craftsman rubber strap wrenches, and I can't get the thing to crack. I tried this process twice - and both times applied so much force that the straps began to slip, leaving black rubber streaks on the light. Can anyone enlighten me as to what to try next?

Also, my DB mod was inspired by this thread...
A look inside...

...and I have another question:

From reading the text, it appears that the heat sink disk needs to be thicker than the stock one to compensate for the difference in the height of the emitter dies between LD and HD for optimal focus. If so, then why couldn't the bezel be screwed all the way down? It would seem that it couldn't be screwed down far enough to acheive optimal focus with the reflector...

Thanks in advance for any help offered - John
