I have just purchased the above Nitecore, and it seems to be magnificent, with all the info it gives during charging, as well as the ID of battery type, but .......

I notice that my Tronic first discharges the NiCd cells, before re-charging, to counter the memory effect, the Nitecore doesn't. Which is better?
(Both chargers also charge NiMH, the Digi D2 also charges Li-ion, LiFePO4, IMR)

If you still use nicd battery`s they do need to exercised after every few charges to remove the memory effect, nimh cells do not have this problem.

Does the Tronic do a full discharge or just do a partial discharge to remove the memory effect.

NiCd batteries are still considered (as packs) the best for power tools (drills).
The Tronic discharges for about 10 minutes, until voltage has dropped to 1-1.1 Volts .
So perhaps, I should use the Tronic every 3rd or 4th time, and the D2 for the rest of the time (?)
