AAA case Pocket Light with 4 Blue L.E.D.\'s (pics)

I had an extra battery case lying around so I decided to pop some 3mm leds in it and make a pocket light. It's very bright...Much brighter than the pics show... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm going to make a white one and a red one next.

Put some strong magnets on the bottom so I could stick it onto things without having to hold it. It works very nicely.

I like it! Those are some nice blue LED's. They look very deep blue like Royal-Blue, not the Ice-Blue ones' you some times run into.
I like the magnets too. Good idea!

Yeah, those leds make flourescent things glow. They even make some tree fungus outside glow white. Kinda like uv leds. I got them at lsdiodes a while back and never used them.

another style using battery cases as the whole thing.

single 5mm UV. warning is laser marked (I worked for a laser etching company)

Single AAA and a Satcure booster.

Great little case from RS. I went to one and they had them mis-priced. .19 needless to say I bought all 6.

I wanted to make that circuit, but I think that I am too dingy in the head to do it... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Nice light /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

super easy circuit. if you wrap the coil right, only need 2 parts min. coil is a choke from RS with a second coil (15 turns) wrapped in top. and an NPN (2N2222) style transistor. this is an older one and not running at full power (driving in pulse mode). I have been getting better though. 4x4 holes on perf board, using a 4mm handwound choke, 1 res, 1 cap, 1 trans, 1 shotchy diode, all potted in JBWeld and ready to drop in stuff (for quick mods).
HEY, I am between jobs right now, and this keeps me sane.

Nice mod Negeltu.
Where did you get the case?
Did you use any resistors?

I bought 4 of those AAA cases at radioshack.

I matched the leds then wired them in parallel with a 22ohm 1/4watt resistor. Once I cut out the holes in the front of the case...I positioned the leds and covered everything with a mixture of green glow powder and epoxy. It glows all night long. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
