It will run on one, two or three cells. It should be a little brighter (and possibly a bit more efficient) on 2 or 3 cells than on 1 cell, though.

Tyler is right. You really can't get 700mA out of a single 123, but it's still plenty bright.

I also have to say that gun metal is beautiful. If you've never seen one, you should treat yourself.

The next time I get a KL1, I'm gonna try to put a PR into it. I'll let you know what I come up with. Might make a cool KL1 mod.
