Hi,

i'd like to run a Mag 6D bulb on 3 CR123s. Are there any problems with this?
And yes, I know there are better bulbs out there.
My idea is to put the 6D bulb with the CR123s in a Mag
with 3 C or D cells to have a light in my car that
serves as a "blunt object" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif and has power even if unused for long periods.
Usually I have a E1e/KL1 or Z3 for EDC but I like the idea of mounting a light inside the car which can serve
as backup and/or long-time emergency light.

Thanks,

BTW: Is there a orange peel textured reflector that fits a C or D Mag?

Are you saying you want to run a Mag 6D bulb in a 3C or 3D body? If so, that would be just fine. You could buy one of Otokoyama's Perfect Mag Reflectors (see the B/S/T forum) or you can sputter your plastic reflector with clear acrylic coating. You would not need the high temperature resistance of an aluminum reflector so sputtering your stocker might be the easiest and cheapest way to do it. Do a search on "sputter" in this forum for more hints.

Yes, to run the 6D in a 3C body was the first idea -
in the meanwhile I changed my mind: running it in a 2C body
seems to be the right way.
I'd like to use CR123s instead of C or D cells and
to get the proper voltage for the 6D bulb I need 3 CR123s.
Three of these are nearly the same size as 2 C cells
and with some padding around the C123s they should feel
comfortable inside the Mag2C... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepy.gif

I'll do some searching on "sputter" now.

Thanks!
