I`d have to agree- that`s just a little Energizer DB-4AAA in which someone has fitted IR LEDs in place of the lamp/reflector. Wonder how many?
BTW does anyone know where to get any good quality IR or near-IR LEDs, with a "beam" dispersion of maybe 40-50 degrees or more? I`ll have to check on the wavelength. I need to make an IR lamp for one of my CCTV cameras (it has onboard IR LEDs but they are seriously underpowered and near useless) and have been looking for some for a while now.

Thanks Folks. I emailed the seller. What i'm looking for is a IR torch for my son in the USMC. He has a $6500 NV scope on his M16A2 but wants to supplement his light source.

Phred, for THAT high level of $$$$'s, and THAT high level of risk, you need a very good light to complement the sight.
SureFire do some IR filters, which fit over the standard lens of a gun-mounted light - check out the SF site ......

Thanks Lightlover. I have seen the E1/IR for $99, I forget where. Good idea on a new post. I remember seeing a combo visible/IR torch somewhere. BTW, I'm not over the hill yet, but I can see the top. Memory is not what goes first but it's close.

I can think of some cool uses for a high-powered IR light.
Hook up a power transistor in the circuit, and control it with a universal remote control. Add a lens, and you can control your neighbor's TV from your own house
Or, if you are VERY mean, drive by a sports bar during superbowl or final game of the world series, and hit the "off" button.

The standard unit uses 2 emitters, the HiPower version uses 3.
Estimated output is 1600 mW for the standard version and 2400
mW for the HiPower version.
Wavelength is 880 nm.
