New guy here....wondering which blue LED (470nM) puts out the most light. Size is no matter.

Looking for name, part number and best place to get one.

Thanks in advance.

Probably the Nichia NSPB500BS, available directly from Nichia.
It's a 5mm (T1 3/4) LED in a standard, water-clear epoxy package.

This LED has a published intensity of 3,460mcd at 20mA in a 15° beam.

Price to performance ratio?
Lumileds ( www.luxeonstar.com ) has a very bright 3 watt blue that will definitely turn heads if you don't mind fussing with installing it onto a pc processor sized heatsink, or something that looks like a flashlight of that material. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/huh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
If it's the familiar T5 epoxy type you want, The Led Museum has the answer for you already. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif
