Yeah, I've seen several variations on this theme. I think Craig has even reviewed one of them (a single-head unit) on his site.
The ones that I've seen at trade shows were pretty bright, but not as bright as a halogen or short-arc xenon lamp. They're ok for color washes, but not as a primary spotlight or key light. Not yet, anyway.

The only multiple LED, 16.7 million color LED lamp I've seen or evaluated is the Color Kinetics C-75 light.
