I thought this was interesting. It is a bank of 960 LEDs in twelve different colors designed to put out any one of 16.7 million colors. It seems to be designed primarily for stage lighting or other entertainment applications.

Yeah, I've seen several variations on this theme. I think Craig has even reviewed one of them (a single-head unit) on his site.

The ones that I've seen at trade shows were pretty bright, but not as bright as a halogen or short-arc xenon lamp. They're ok for color washes, but not as a primary spotlight or key light. Not yet, anyway.
