I had to modify a board I got from a grey kit to fit into one of my polished rev2 heads. In the process I seem to have broken the ferrite core of the inductor, and the LED flickers in and out of various brightness levels and gets quite warm. Didn't even feel the inductor break, but you can see the area where it crumbled away.

That being said, anyone know what the value and size of the inductor on the Grey Kit board is? I'd like to replace it and finish up this light.

(Do any from this page work? http://www.coilcraft.com/do3316.cfm#table if not, http://www.coilcraft.com/ maybe one could be found on the site somewhere - they have free sample inductors.)

In case anyone is interested, the board is going into on of these lights: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=590037&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=365&fpart=1

The flashlights are gifts, at least two of them anyway. Hopefully they'll be well received, they've taken a lot of work to get this far.

Thanks for your help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Looks to be about the right width, but it's a good bit taller than the one on the board.

Is the value of the inductor 2.2uH? I'll post pics of the broken inductor tomorrow morning.

I got the board to work this afternoon. Seems the inductor wasn't the problem, but that it was shorting on the aluminum heatsink. Some nail polish fixed that up without much issue.

That's for your help, NewBie.
