Folks,

I've got 6 new maglights/ripoffs in 2/3/4 cell design. I have a zillion other 2-4 cell lights still in good shape. I can't stand to use them, or even look at them anymore, but hate to throw away the basic quality housing.

Although it may not be economically prudent, I've decided to replace the old incad bulbs with LED drop ins. I have the EverLed and it works well, but I'm not going to spend 40 bucks on each flashlight. Can anyone give some suggestions on best bang for the buck drop in replacement bulbs.

I should add that my intention is to use these flashlights as emergency lights so am not worried about getting really bright LED bulbs - besides they cost a lot more.

Many thanks.

They're not as bright, but the Tektite LS dropins that LED Replacement sells are nice, they're not EverLed bright but they're pretty good, especially for non-flashaholic types like my parents. If you wanted emergency use only, you can always get those cheepie dropins that have like 4 3mm LEDs, and what you'd seriously lack in brightness you'd gain in runtime.

Those 2/3/4 cell lights, are those the ones that Sportsman's Guide was selling? Because if you want something that would be able to work on that whole range of voltage, the only solution I know of is the Everled. .

Multiple LED drop-ins

Where do you get the multi-LED drop-ins with really long runtimes for the Mags?

The Diamonds are very bright (brighter than EverLEDs), and the 1-watt unregulated models are only $20 each. You could use Tektites on the 4-cell lights.

I think one of the banner ad businesses on here that sells loose LEDs has the really inexpensive ones. You won't be wow-ed by brightness, but runtime will fascinate you (at least it did me). .
