Hopefully the ones that really take a lot of beamshots will pipe up, but I had to use manual controls as opposed to an auto point and shoot mode. I had to manually adjust the shutter speed and aperture until I felt the beam looked realistic as to what they eye was seeing. I also locked the focus at a set distance and placed the camera the set distance away from the flashlight. Lots of digital cameras, particularly the very cheap and very small, do not have the ability to manually set the aperture and shutter speed.
