Has anyone else seen the new Black E2e?
I saw one today at a local shop. Not very impressive.
It has the shinny HA finish, such as the black E2.
The tailcap was a LOTC.

Anyway just wanted to know if anyone else has seen them and what they thought as well.

If they had an E1E bk, it would be nice. You can make the "E1D defender in which you stick the impact bezel thing of the E2D on the head of the E1E, exchange tailcaps too, and if you really want to, take the dome lens of the E2D and put it inside the head of the E1E head... sorry, I got a little carried away there.

If it was matt HA III black instead of normal shiny HA black I'd definately get one!

I can't find any information about it on the surefire site. Do you have any source of information about it?

Hard Anodised (HA) is Mil-A-8625 Type III Class 2. It is for SureFires usually a grey or black dullish matt finish.

Type II anodising is not Hard (it is the shiny black of the 6P/Z2 etc

It appears to be same as the 6P etc.
There is some information on TAD gears website. (tadgear.com )

The information that they give says it is black hard anodized, and that it is a limited edition.

I believe that there are some E(x)e's out in population that are both Type II and Type III and there were a few that were of mixed anodize. I think I still have a couple, NIB that could be of either flavor. I would guess if you find one that has the clickie tail switch that it would be of type III. The ones with LOTC's could be either or combo; mutts as it were mut! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

I went back to the store today to have a better look at them.
There was about 6 of them sealed in boxes. They appear to be HA II. All have LOTC.

I also saw the new E1L and E2L new in bags. It was a little hard to get the tailcap twisted in far enough to actually work, but got the job done.
They were both a little on the green side for me, so passed on them as well.

HA II ?
That's like saying "Hard Anodised SOFT"

There is no such thing as HA2. There's HA (which is HA Level 3) and then there's Level 2 which is standard, not hard.

SureFire state that their "HA" is Hard Anodised to Mil-A-8625 Type III Class 2.

Mil Spec Type II is sulphuric acid anodising which is usually dyed provides the very basic in corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and dielectric properties.

Mil Spec Type III is sulphuric/oxalic acid anodising which produces a thick and dense "hardcoat". This "Hard Anodising" or hard coating provides excellent abrasion resistance and corrosion protection, but is often difficult to colour

Call it what ever, it is not HA III. Just trying to explain what it looks like.

Okay, thanks.
It's not good news though. The Black HA was the appeal of the black HA version!

I agree entirely. I was really excited to get a new E2e in Black HA.
I don't understand why they are not HA. Seems as though they would last longer.

I saw a `limited edition` Black E1e with clikie a few days ago. Didn't look too closely but think it had a matte finish. Are they so rare?
