Hi everbody,

I am currently offering a two stage switch mod for the QI/QIII. This will include a professionally manufactured switch with the following switching function:

Low Beam -> Off -> High Beam -> off -> (Loop)

Included in the mod is a choice of brightness by inserting a 5 ohm or 10 ohm resistor.

Previously, I had a different switch configuration but that is no longer available. They just don't make it anymore!

Price includes basic shipping of tailcap back to buyer (North America, included, International + $5):

1x switch mod = $13
2x switch mods at a time = $25
Optional: 1 x O-ring tailcap mod = +$2
1x international shipping = +$3

PayPal non CC: [email protected] | PP CC + 3%

Please specify the low brightness level:
5 ohms - more bright
10 ohms - less bright

I would rather have high beam first (for momentary) but if not possible I guess #1 option could be left off after low beam and then it would have high beam momentary. Whew, did that make any sense at all?

Is the modded switch a clickie (instead of the stock, reverse clickie) ?

Meaning "true" momentary (depressing partially will already produce light)? Then this would be a most worthwhile configuration.

Looks like the general concensus is for switch #2. I'll tell you guys how many I will have to order for this to go through.

Update: Waiting to get a quote on the switches. I hope we can meet the minimum order!

Re: Sign up for Nuwai QIII Dual brightness switch

Couple of questions:
1) Does it have a true momentary function? I'm not interested in a reverse momentary function. In other words, if the light is off and you push the switch partway, does it light before it clicks on?

2) What is the runtime for the 5ohm and 10ohm settings?

Thanks.

Re: Sign up for Nuwai QIII Dual brightness switch

Sorry guys, there is no more On -> On -> Off switch. I just talked with the engineer and demand was low so they don't make them anymore.

Still interested in the first switch?

sith, There is no momentary action in these switches.

Guys, this is official opened for pre-ordering of mods. I will notify you when I get the switches. You can then choose to disassemble your tailcap and just send me the PCB or just send me the whole tailcap.

goldserve :

you better answer first to the question of whether it is 'true momentary' or 'reverse clicky'...

I'm not sure what you mean but

Click once -> Low light -> click again -> off -> click again -> high beam -> click again -> off.

The light turns on/off AFTER releasing the click. Works the same way as the original switch.

Re: Sign up for Nuwai QIII Dual brightness switch

Tell the engineer he was wrong - a lot of QIII owners want high/low/off with momentary high!

Thanks for the explanation /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I would prefer a regular clickie sort of switch i.e. with a momentary low / high.

Re: Sign up for Nuwai QIII Dual brightness switch

Sorry, they just don't make small enough switches with the functions we want. We would have to hack the QIII severely to get a switch like that in there. Right now, the part I have is *almost* a drop in fit without much modifications.
