Is it possible to make a flashlight which produces a glow ring like the BMW 7 series glow ring? How does this affect the beam and throw? Can anyone speculate? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
forget about the glow ring since it is decorative. How about making the light that shine moderately far but has nice spill of light on the side.

Could you be more precise? Do you just want a glowing ring around the outside of the emitter optics or do you want a doughnut-shaped emitter optic?

The BMW glowrings are basically decorative.

It's totally possible, but as enLIGHTenment noted, the BMW halo-eyes are mostly decorative.

I believe they are called CELIS lights/rings. Or that's what the technology is called. Do a google search and you should be able to find a lot of stuff.

The "angels eyes" are not so hard to simulate.
All you need an acrylic rod, 5mm LEDs & some resistor.

Here's the full instructions.

Happy Modding!
