Obviously not useful for flashlights, but these tiny little babies could enable some very fun color-mixing projects.

"LEDs: Thinnest Side Firing Tricolor ChipLED

The HSMF-C115 and HSMF-C113 are side firing tricolor chip-type LEDs designed in an ultra small package for miniaturization. It is the first of its kind to achieve such small packaging with 3 dies. With the freedom to have any combination of colors from mixing the 3 primary colors, they yield a wide variety of colors to suit every application and product theme.

The Agilent HSMF-C113 combines InGaN blue (470 nm dominant wavelength, 60 mcd typical brightness); AlInGaP green (572 nm, 50 mcd); and AlInGaP red (626 nm, 80 mcd) die. All brightnesses measure at 20 mA operating current. The premium HSMF-C115 uses brighter InGaN green, with 525 nm dominant wavelength and 170-mcd typical brightness. Both versions have diffused optics, are compatible with IR (infrared) reflow soldering processes, and are certified lead-free. Agilent's ChipLED package features high thermal-dissipation capability for maximum reliability.

The primary use of this product will be in LCD or keypad backlighting and status indicators for handsets or PDAs. The market has high acceptance for a product which has unlimited color offerings from a single side firing tricolor ChipLED. This increases the features of a handheld kit to provide status indicators for different tasks executed."

Hmmm.

Print up a grid of interconnections on a substrate using ink-jet printing, and tack the LED's down to it. Instant rollable flatscreen TV. It's not perfect, and you probably wouldn't want it in your living room, but a good stop-gap measure for commercial use until true printable OLED's are perfected.
