Rechargables in Pentagon LED Lights

Has anybody tried rechargables in the Pentagon Leds L2 or L3 either Pilas or the 123's. I am a police officer and am looking at getting a led for duty use and would prefer rechargable batteries as I use my light often. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to learn of your expensive lesson but at the same time thanks for letting us know.

I am wondering if their Xenon Lamps could hang with 8.4v driven by a couple of protected Li-Ion's? Would anybody happen to know how many amps are drawn from the cells?
