Malkoff P7 Projects

Ah, hell-- AW may be too late with his hotwire regulator after all. Up to 28 Volts? So... 12-16 AA's in a Mag host ought to run for a nice, long time.

Just curious, which flashlight/P7 Drop-in combinations are you planning? I know the first is going to be the Streamlight SL20x.

It would appear that the Wolf Eyes Rattlesnake or Eagle 4 series light would make a good sturdy host for a P7 running on 2 or 3 (with extender) 18650 batteries. Any chance of making a P7 to fit into the D36 format of these rugged Aluminum shell flashlights?

Wolf eyes is already making them and they are shipping in limited quantities. :naughty:

I'm still waiting for someone to make one for a P60 (D26) drop-in though. I'd love to see a Malkoff style p60 with a P7 and optic. But dealing with the heat is likely a big issue, I doubt we'll see a P7 driven to 2.8A in small drop-in formats. But perhaps the multi die Cree coming later this year will deal with it a bit better.

I know wolf eyes is making them, but I would much rather have the more rugged and better heatsunk version that I know Malkoff will come up with than anything else. If I spend the money and time to invest in a P7 unit I want it to work right and last a long time with a really good driver.

Are there any updates?

A regulated P7 for my M3 running of AW 17500 Protected cells would rock.

While I agree that the M3 would be a sharp looking host for an LED such as the P7, fact is that the emitter won't fit through the opening of the M3 reflector, you'd have to do some homemade modding to make a P7 work in that head.

I'm also curious as to updates on a Malkoff P7 dropin, yummy:popcorn:.

I got a Q5 drop in for the M3, a P7 is do-able I think.

Had to open the bezel to remove the old reflector but everything fits great.

It's not a D26 size drop-in. I'm not even sure what size it is.........

I will have to post a few pics tomorrow to show it.

I think there will be D26-sized optics available for the Cree MC-E
