my fenix Tk20 comes with a black and an orange tailcap switch. I want to swap out the black on for the spare orange one... anyone can help?

Use a spanner wrench to grab the two holes on the metal ring inside the tailcap. Failing that, needlenose pliers will also work.

I see the two holes in it but can't seem to get them to pop out?? couldn't turn them either...

needlenose pliers will usually do it, and it might take a few goes to get them seated well enough to provide sufficient leverage. The key is to make sure you're only trying to turn the retainer screw and not wedging the pliers against the sides of the tailcap itself, which will obviously make life hard.

Maybe you aren't twisting it hard enough. Make sure that the pliers are in the holes and only applying direct pressure to the tailcap retaining ring. Having them caught on the threads might even ruin them if you apply enough pressure.

I remove every tailcap and switch from any new clicky I get. My new PD20 was a stubborn one. You need a rubber strap wrench (kind you use for jar lids) to hold tailcap (DO NOT use vice as you will squash tailcap) and use needle nose pliers in holes and turn sharply to break free. I found thread locker on mine which made it so difficult.

When you have it opened lube the button on the clicky switch which is why I remove EVERY tailcap for maintenance. Plastic to plastic interface can become a sticking point. A TINY drop of oil or silicone grease on toothpick is enough.

I'm trying to install a forward switch in an L2D. I've got the thing apart, but there is something at the bottom below the switch but behind the boot and it doesn't want to move. Can it be removed or goes the boot come out through the back end somehow?

This is NOT my picture, and I don´t know who made it, so I can´t give the credits...

But it works a lot! Look for yourself!

I like the forward clicky feel alot, but kind of miss the tail standing and it feels a bit weird for mode changing.

my smallest leatherman worked well... but then again, i didn't find any loctite on any of mine :)
