If it made use of Wayne's new (soon to be released) GDuP board, you'd have a 3-level twisty light. :naughty:

A twisty requires different timing. I have plans on coding in the timing for a twisty. The current on state timing is very short and would be near impossible to operate with a twisty. No problems with a clickie, but, a real bear in a twisty. Lockout occurs in 0.8S which is the min timing for the Flupic and around 2 seconds IIRC for the Flupic.

Wayne, that is more than enough of time for a twist light if you are used to a driver that operates like the FluPic or GDuP. :)

***EDIT***

Actually, at one point Golserve sold the FluPic with two different timmings for lockout. 800ms for clickies and 1,200ms for twisties but I liked the 800ms which is in .8 seconds. ;)

A smooth twisty can be twisted faster than 0.8 sec.
I would prefer the 0.8sec or lower.

Fred, how's progress? I'm having flashoholic withdrawal ...trying not to spend my flashlight budget so I'm ready when this light is complete.

Thanks.

jwl,

The machine shop told me last week that the AL was in, that they were working on the programming, and that they expected to cut them this week. I'll check in with them on Wednesday or Thursday, if they don't contact me before then.

However, the lights still need a lot of work after they are back from the shop, i.e., sanding, polishing, and plating, to be followed by assembly.

Change mine to black anodizing, I want to use this one... Also be strongly interested in a Flupic version. Maybe the Great Kenster can spare one of his boards?

I need a little clarification on drivers. The Flupic is a BUCK converter, correct? So, if I run only primary CR123A's then the Flupic won't power the emitter (as far as I know). So it looks like I need the GD series driver to use a primary battery, correct?

BTW - I am reading up on Wayne's new driver mentioned above to see if it would work.

Thanks.

Please put me down for a black anodized.

I'll defer the driver selection until it's closer to the completion date and there's a better idea if GDuPs and/or Flupics will be available.

Of course you mean Fraternal Twins, right?:poke: Sorry, I could not resist. As an identical mirror twin I just had to make that point.

well, considering one came out black and the other, not so black... sounds like baby mama drama !

On the Blocky Boy development front, I heard from the machine shop today. Seems they had a large job that took longer to run than was expected, so no Blocky Boys yet.

They have completed the converter module, and the head is expected to be run on Monday, the battery tube on Tuesday and the milling on both pieces on Wednesday. Should they keep to that schedule, I might see them late next week. After that, some will be EN plated and if the anodizers are willing to take a small run, most of the remaining bodies will be sent to them, too.

I'm going to start work on a spreadsheet which will show the various options to be offered, and the names of those who have indicated an interest in buying one. I'll post that this weekend.
