It is a new UI, and will just take a bit of getting used to, like any new light.
Am I missing something or is the "new" part only that the time you have for mode changes is quite long?

3 mode operation: high -> medium -> low -> high -> medium -> low ->
I assume this is supposed to just mean High -> Medium -> Low and that repeating infinitely as usual. Or is there anything special happening after 2 cycles?

Turn power off, then on again within 10 seconds to change to the next level
Oh boy, that is quite long. I first thought this was a typo and should be within 0.5s, something I'd prefer. ;)

Turn power off, then on again after 10 seconds to reset back to high
And what happens between 5 and 10 seconds, like at 6 or 7 seconds?
(If timing is just done by a capacitor discharging instead of a micro-controller, it would explain undegined behaiviour here, I guess.)

Automatically resets to high after tailcap lock-out or battery change
As you gotta be quick to change batteries within 5 seconds, the latter is quite obvious anyway. :D But the former makes no sense to me. From the perspective of the drop-in both a switched-off and a locked-out tailcap look the same (no connection to the negative terminal of the battery).

Models without this issue should be available in a few months.
Does this mean 1400 Lumen triples will take more than a few months to appear, or will there be single mode and/or flickering 3-mode 1400 Lumen triples before that, too?

Is that 10pm EST?

Sorry for the confusion. No time was stated in the email. "-07:00" is technical shorthand for "7 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time" which is another way of saying PST (pacific standard time).

Future schedules will be given in ranges, relative to when the email is sent, not absolute against a specific time zone.

Here in Vladivostok, it means I will have to get up at 09.00 if I want to catch one of these. It is still dark at that time, and my boots will still be frozen solid to the floor. But of course it is hardly ever light here, and my boots very seldom warm up :green:

Yesterdays release took about 50 mins to sellout and this release of drop-ins doesn't look like it will beat that. :mecry: Where the hell is all those International guys who wanted one of these Drop-ins now?

awesome I put it in my cart and by the time i go to pay - zero quantity available - that is just b.s.
I know it's frustrating when you are dealing with small-time operations like Oveready but they do produce a unique and desirable product.

You will get there eventually - it seems everytime they release a new batch there are improvements and refinements to the product so waiting may work in your favour. :banghead:

The customer service seems top notch to me. I can't think of any other company that is this one-on-one with their customers. Tom and Dan really go the extra mile for us super demanding flashlight geeks. The ONLY complaint I could see is availability, but this IS a custom item. These babies don't roll off an assembly line.

I completely agree!!! Having dealt with both Tom and Dan since before they formed Oveready they have always had top notch customer service!!!
