Which light did you gift or give away and why? Any reasons why you didn't kept it?

Of all the lights you had, which ones you didn't give away and why?

I had a small collection of lights I gave away to family members who enjoyed them.

Surefire G2 LED to my dad because at the time, he wanted a small tactical light.
Surefire U2A to my brother who couldn't understand why they're worth so much until he owned one himself.
Solarforce L2P w/XML to my oldest brother who wanted a floody light for walking while hunting.
Mac's Custom SST-50 EDC to my wife who kept it the moment I showed it to her.
Sparks ST-460NW to my nephew who needed it more for working on cars.
Preon High CRI to my sister who needed it as a work light when examining patients eyes and mouth.

The ones I kept?
Crelant 7G5 V2 for throw and night walks. A Sunwayman V10R because I love how it's versatile in a small package for an EDC. And a couple of whimpy incans I refuse to give away because of poor quality.

I got my 4-5 year old newphew a ShiningBeam I-mini value edition the other day. as well as one for myself, lol!.

I need to get the AA adapter for it, before I send it off to him soon. He loved playing with my Fenix PD32 when I was visiting over Easter.

I've got nice lights and I'm not giving them away, lol. I'll just buy them their own.

It's funny how they make fun of me and the light collecting but when they get one, they appreciate its quality. I'm just waiting for the colimater head to arrive for order to my crelant 7g5.

I only give lights to people I really care about. So if they are flashlight worthy and hint that they really like something in my collection I give it to them. Lots of Arc AAA's have been gifted and the biggest was an M6 with a full loadout of accessories. That went to my rock climbing partner. Gotta keep him happy!

And of course there is the CPF X-mas give away. Those gifts are spares for my spares...

I'm sure I really like all of your lights - hint, hint.

Seriously, I haven't built enough of a collection that I gave any away yet, but it would be cool to gift one and create another flashaholic.

Dangerous :D

Imagine the person you've gifted turned into a flashaholic but doesn't know their limits. I would be sad to see a person whom I've given a light to go buy more lights and go bankrupt. But it is nice to talk to someone who's on the same page as I.

Yes, I would want to create a responsible flashaholic, not a monster.

I get that excuse quite a bit from folks who asks me for a quality and doesn't want to spend that extra buck to get one. Many of which doesn't want to spend over $30USD and I find it funny they want one like my $150+ lights...You can't sacrifice quality with quantity--unless you're a manufacturer :D

I almost started a new thread, but after searching, I decided to just revive this one...

Anyhow, I recently got a Piccolo, which is one of the most awesome lights I've ever owned (notice already the past tense 'owned' haha). I was almost tempted to let go of it since I needed cash for another light until I had a recent conversation with my wife during a long drive.

She brings up how she used the Piccolo one time and remarked how smooth the action was to turn it on...how neat it was to have two modes with such a welcoming tint...how the machining was so precise...how cool it was when the optic emitted a nice after use along with the trit at the tail...how awesome it was to have such a rare and sought after light...and finally, how I shouldn't sell it and that I should definitely keep it.

Man, after hearing her talk like that about a flashlight (and seeing she genuinely appreciated my hobby) I fell in love with her all over again, and decided to give it to her as a gift with no regrets at all :D

gave my neighbor 2 x minimag LED 2AA. We were talking about the new neighbors and how their kid drives like idiot. The neighbors take their dogs for a walk when they get home, which generally puts them walking at dusk/dark, and their old 2d plastic lights were absurdly dim. I saw the 2 pack at walmart for $20, and picked it up. Hopefully they'll have a better chance of being seen when idiot crests the hill at 40mph.

I know there are a lot of minimag haters here, but I was genuinely impressed. These easily out throw my Fenix LD20, though the tint and UI leave a little to be desired.

I can't list all the ones that I have kept so far but I am considering giving some of them away before too long since they're a couple of generations old now.

I have given away as gifts Solarforces, ITP A1 multiple times, Fenix E01, and a Streamlight Microstream. They've all gone to family or female friends because I knew they wouldn't carry something big but I wanted them to at least have decent lights with standard cells on them all the time.

I gave away my Quark X tactical AA^2 that I got during the 4Sevens branding clearance sales. Seem to prefer a more defined hotspot with my forward clickies. My wife got an extra LD01 that I had. the E01 did not impress her and I got it back.

I gave away a bunch of Rayovac and a Terralux to my father. I had no more use for them (single mode and not enough output) but I knew they're solid lights. I also bought him an E05 for Christmas (a year ago) to put on his keys. I also give flashlights to my cousin for Christmas and his birthday, but he's a flashaholic too so I guess that doesn't really count, LOL. All the lights I'm keeping is because I like them too much, they have something no other light has or are too practical for me. I do need to make a sale soon, though.

Last year gifted Lummi Wee Ti's to my daugher & her BF for their keychains. They both attend University way up North, so light is very handy as it gets dark early.
Hers has a 25L Pill, His is 150. So she can light the trail on the walks to the lake they visit ( longer run time) and his helps slow down coyotes etc that have visited them.
Not sure which would be affective vs a Moose though
