Would You still Buy an Arc AAA Today?

Re: Anyone have an Arc AAA? I loved them is the simple answer. I also have 9 of the Arc LS lights - Low dome and High dome editions - 3 or 4 of the short-lived Arc4. a few of the arc AAA that cycled Red-Green-Blue for my dog's collar. At the time there wasn't any other real power light...

Would You still Buy an Arc AAA Today?

Re: Anyone have an Arc AAA? Yep. 14 of them as a matter of fact and 3 or 4 of the AA, which weren't around that long. Some still in the original package (later editions ... my first few came in plastic baggies). If I Remember correctly the original Arc, LLC was in existence from 2001 - 2004...

Forget Cheap and Bright; Let's Talk About Old, Dim, Expensive Flashlights!

I have 7 Arc LSH-p lights each costing $150. Throw in a couple Arc-4's and 3 or four Arc AA and about a dozen Arc AAA premiums.... oh, and 3 Arc AAA RGB's and I have passion, pride, heart and soul all sewn up... and no I will not part with any of them.

    New Nitecore EA41

--- Cree bins the XM-L at 25 degrees and the XM-L2 at 85. If I remember correctly the XM-L2 T6 at 25 is something like 318 lumens whereas the XM-L U2 is 300... so you are only looking at 6%... would be interesting how they got 100 lumen bump from 6%

    Fenix E05 - 2014 Edition (not SS)

Since it is a twist switch I am guessing that the sequence is low, med, hi... the further you twist the head the higher the light output. At least this is the way my thrunite Ti (2 mode) works.

    DURACELL QUANTUM Batteries

My Costco has 30 packs for 14 or 15 dollars. My wife picked them up on Sunday and i wasn't around so I don't know if a coupon was involved or if it was some form of introductory offer.

    DURACELL QUANTUM Batteries

Remember that your 3000 mAH Lithiums have a very different discharge profile due to vastly less internal resistance. In a high-amperage device that really drives the battery the Lithium chemistry is probably still significantly better. It isn't how much energy is in the battery it is how much...

Do you own a light too nice to use?

I do not own a single light that I don't use. My hang up is having too many shelf queen knives. For some reason my brain can not understand owning a flashlight that isn't used, but is perfectly fine with a dozen (or more) knives that never come out of the box. Each to their own I guess.

Toshiba to Start Sales of White LED Packages - GaN chips on 200mm silicon wafers

Bloomberg Radio had a show on this 2 weeks ago. Pimm Fox interviewed the CEO of Bridgelux. The show is focused on the investment and financial aspects of this technology. I believe the CEO of Bridgelux said the cost of fabrication would be cut by a factor of 4 to six times less expensive and...

What "Iconic" LED lights have to be put in a "HALL OF FAME FOR LED FLASHLIGHTS"?

Re: What "Iconic" lights would have to be put in a "HALL OF FAME FOR LED FLASHLIGHTS" The Arc AAA gets my top vote along with many of the other ARC products, they made a AA version for awhile and had an RGB AAA that had a flashing pattern. My dog wore that model on her collar for years during...

Looking for an EDC folder (newbie)

Not sure on size you are looking for, The Manix XL is the big brother of the Manix and is almost a 4 inch blade. It is S30V and can be had for around 100. The Sage One Carbon fiber is also S30V and a great knife with a 3 inch blade, Download a catalog from the Spyderco site and check these...

Looking for an EDC folder (newbie)

Little more info would help. Price point, blade size, locking mechanism preference, some idea of usage profile. That said, can't go wrong with Kershaw (check out the skyline) or Spyderco (Delica is usually everybody's first and often favorite choice). Byrd is Spyderco's value line and the...

REVIEW: The Spyderco Manix 2 CTS-BD30P

Re: REVIEW: The Spyderco Manix 2 CTS-BD30P>>>>>>>>> Yes. The M4 is the same steel as used in the Spyderco Gayle Bradley and is a semi-stainless(?). Mine has gotten a patina over the last few months (nothing like the Caly 3.5 in Aogami super blue which only took a week... high carbon steel)...
