Re: Anodizing failing and clip abrasion
I do like this light a LOT. I got one for my daughter also. I gave her a lithium AA Ultimate battery as she isn't one to charge things, and that should last awhile the way she'll use it. I drives quite well from that battery. I am using an Eneloop in...
wondering what the story is there. There are some sweet D cell lights but D cell rechargables are expensive and I actually haven't seen lsd D cells anywhere (they may exist but I haven't seen them)
It would be better if you could use AA cells instead. Can you?
What's confusing is that these are labeled Made In Japan, but they often come from Chinese suppliers. ARe the Chinese just putting on the outside jacket then? Is there a way to know these are genuine Panasonics and not cheap knockoffs?

Are these any good? They say "Panasonic" but the photos of the product don't say that. How do we know what we are really getting?
I can see how this could be a huge problem, mistaking lithium for AA and having a problem, either ruining a light or worse. Is this a reason to stay away from 14500? Are there many lights that can accept both?
Thanks!
I still love my EOS's and buy a new one now and then or give them as gifts. They are very lightweight, take standard batteries and have a simple user interface. They have a reasonable beam pattern.

Close family member, young woman, is going to be living in Russia. Want a very bright AA or 2 AA light that can be good for carrying on the street, using for any number of things including defensive purposes. Should be under $100 if possible.
I love the A2. When I only want to carry two lights, my HDS U60 and my A2 goes with me. It gives a decent flood at short ranges for a long time.
Most importantly, the A2 lets me see house numbers from my car, which even my U2 can't do very well. Pretty awesome for a pocketable light.
