Sold/Expired WTB: Malkoff MDC single AA body and VME head

I have that exact set-up. Runs forever, and puts out a decent amount of light. The Nichia version of course- high CRI is mandatory for me. It's a little heavy due to the heavy brass heat-sink designed for higher voltage, but that's not an issue for me as I don't carry it.

    HDS Systems #23

Very glad to see the Nichia options back up on the HDS website! Thanks to RPC for the heads up on that. I ordered another 3500K rotary. Hi CRI is where it's at for me. I laughed at the idea of spending $300 for a flashlight the first time I heard of HDS. Now I own 4. :ROFLMAO: The...

I've compared both, but at 4000K though. I prefer the Nichia. I also have the Nichia at 3000K, 3500K and 4000K. The 3000K is very warm. I like it in an extremely dark environment. I personally like the 3500K a bit more. Just one man's opinion...

I saw that but waited too long :( Count me in if you decide to re-stock those!

One of mine flashes bright too. I use it a lot on very low levels in a pitch black theater. Sometimes it will flash super bright when twisting the rotary control. It's really blinding when your eyes are dark adapted, and using at close range!

The hexagonal rubber thingy from this kit fits perfectly on my rotary. I keep it on my 3000K HDS all the time. It lives in my home theater, so it's really nice that it will not roll off the table! (a small zip tie will work also if you're not pocket carrying) Now off to watch Stranger Things....

    Best AA edc flashlight?

The Malkoff MDC level switching scheme is a critical design flaw in an otherwise brilliant design. I often use the light for short bursts at night, which is typical for a low output light like this. The result is the next time I turn it on, it's a mystery as to what level the light will come on.

post something you always wanted as a kid but never got

This! I wanted one sooooo bad when I was young. I've been eyeing the Honda Trail 125 they currently make. I'm a little afraid I'll just hurt myself if I buy one though. :(

    Suggestions for HDS Part Deux...

I think a 2 x AA Side By Side battery compartment would be cool. It would be much more pocket friendly than 2 inline AA's. Benefits would be cheap, readily available batteries, and increased run-time vs. one 123 battery. Imagine an HDS head and rotary tail on something like this:

Just to be clear, HDS occasionally has special limited offerings. The SW35 was part of a recent limited offering of special emitters. It seems the NB40 is still shown on the site. That would be a great alternative IMO. The HDS rotary control is brilliant. Personally, I think the sapphire...

Boom! Got my 3500K Will live in home theater #2. I've been using a 3000K in home theater #1 since the big group buy special emitter extravaganza in 2018. It's been used several times a day, virtually every day since then. So easy on the eyes in a pitch black room. I remember when I first...

    Opinions on HDS Long Term

If I learned that HDS was ceasing operations, my worry would not be about warranty work. Instead- my be concern would be how many lights I could buy before they were all gone! I've no doubt others here feel the same way, and I would expect stiff competition for any remaining lights!
