CROSSING THE LINE-"WHEN IS TOO MUCH TOO MUCH???!!!

From a practicality standpoint, probably more than 5 or so for most people. From a financial standpoint, it depends on: 1.) your finances, 2.) if you get as much enjoyment out of the beyond-practicality lights, as you would have out of something else that money could have bought.

    First 18650 light

Nah, too expensive to me, but thanks for the suggestion, and it's interesting just windows shopping on his site.

    First 18650 light

Gah...nevermind. I meant the Eagletac D25LC2. Sorry, it's hard for me to keep Eagletac (& Foursevens) names straight without referencing them every time.

    First 18650 light

Distance rating don't fall under ANSI, or do they? If not...then it's kind of difficult to compare. XM-L/XM-L2 shouldn't make a horribly large amount of distance. But now that I think about it - going by the head on the G25C2, it *must* be a far more focused beam - I've no idea why I didn't...

    First 18650 light

Hm...I've looked at the PD32UE also - good call. The PD32UE would be #4 on my list if I had gone that far. But going by this review: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?349861-Fenix-PD32-Ultimate-Edition-%28XM-L-T6-NW-1x18650-2xCR123A%29-Review The beamshots indicate the...

    First 18650 light

Long time user of CPF - but I *rarely* buy. Right now I own all of 3 lights -Fenix TK41, Quark 2xAA XM-L2 Pro, & a DQG II. Maybe I average 1.5 lights a year. I research all the time (this is some sort of sick fun to me), but rarely buy. I'm looking at getting an 18650 light, which I've...

Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip change

Re: Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip c 12 XM-L Quarks is a comparitively huge sample, and that seems like such a well thought out and plausible explanation, Scully. But... I always try out new lights in a pitch black room, so I think I would have...

Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip change

Re: Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip c We have a winner. After cleaning, I now also get a very small pre-flash - which still was not there before. However, the full 400 lumen preflash is gone. Thanks.

Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip change

Re: Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip cha Way ahead of you - this started four hours ago, and it doesn't really bother me. Just curious why my maintenance would make it go from no pre-flash, to having it.

Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip change

Quark Pro XML2 fine 3.5 months, now develops preflash after deoxy gold & clip change Again - Quark Pro 2xAA XML-2. I've had it 3.5 months & it never once preflashed. Today I changed the clip to the deep pocket carry version, replaced the o-ring in the tailcap, and treated all threads with...

Hiking at night: What do you EDC ?

I night hike all the time. I use either a Quark 2xAA X on the second highest setting, or a Fenix LD22 on the second highest. I think floodier lights are far more useful. For awhile I took a TK41 with a diffuser cap, which was overkill, but just fun. I hike with a friend, so no backup...

    XM-L G2 in 4sevens lights

Just out of curiosity - why not just order from the FourSevens US site? Shipping is free internationally; is Canadian customs very diligent on charging import duties, or...?

Overall quality: LED, build, customer service: Fenix, Eagletac or Nitecore ?

I recently bought the Fenix LD22, and was surprised how sturdy it felt. Comparing it to an Eagletac & a Foursevens I own, it seems like a definite step up. But, it's a step from very good to very good x1.3 They are all well enough made that it's not horribly important to have that extra build...

    Orbita Lighthouse Revew - A Layman's Perspective

Thanks for the review. I have to say...those actually look very hideous to me. It's nice to see some creativity, I feel like these would fit in with gaming PCs that have green neon on them, and other super-dork styles.
