Powering speedlight with li-ion instead 4xAA?

Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread, but nigelyuen... is your SB800 still working? Thanks for providing an update.

    Issue with Surefire LX2 Head

I just noticed this on the head of my SF LX2 head a few days ago. Inside the seam where the two portions of the head are permanently attached (not where the head attaches to the body), there appears to be shriveled up plastic of some sort. The head has never been or attempted to be...

    Noob Recommendation

That sounds like it has potential. Do you have experience diving with it? I guess my big question about the cheaper lights is how good their water proofing is.

    Noob Recommendation

My father has just started diving and asked me (the family flashaholic) to do some research on dive lights for him. He is only interested in daytime open water dives in clear water and shallow depths. He basically is only interested in reefs. He simply wants a light so he can see the corals in...

    LX2 Budget Replacement

I haven't been very active in the flashlight world lately, so don't really know what is out there right now as far as budget lights. My current EDC is a Surefire LX2. I am going to be going on a cruise and am looking for something about the same size, 2x CR123, and with a clip I can take with...

    Solarforce tailcap compatability

Does anyone know if the innards from the twisty Solarforce tailcap ver. L2-S7 can be ripped out and put in the tailcap of a L2X tailcap? What about the various forward clicky tailcaps? Can their innards be put in a L2X tailcap? I got a L2X a long time ago, but have never used the thing...

    D36 2x16340/18650 Lamp Recommendations

As the title suggests, I have a 2x16340 or 1x18650 body I want to throw a D36 head on. I am looking for suggestions on a drop-in for it. I don't really care what battery configuration as long as its some kind of li-ion. I am not set on incan or LED, it would be fun to do an incan since I...

The perfect Duty flashlight:a leo's perspective.

I think a good point the OP makes is that many of these new lights look like someone saw a tactical flashlight, said "ooh that looks cool, lets make one" and churned something out that just looks cool. However you can't blame them too much. Most of the manufacturers are in China, where they...

The perfect Duty flashlight:a leo's perspective.

Having your gun out doesn't mean pointing it around. Unlike TV (which I assume is where you have seen this), in real life, those guns have live rounds in them that can easily penetrate walls (Google the box of truth). When you walk around with your gun out, you don't swing it around like they do...

The perfect Duty flashlight:a leo's perspective.

Actually 1st rule is ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED. No need to say "loaded gun" Again, all guns are loaded... pointing ANY gun at someone when lethal force is not justified is against the law (at least in my state). I think you would be surprised at how many people get complacent about gun...

The perfect Duty flashlight:a leo's perspective.

I guess I don't understand... all of the incan Surefires intended for use with a pistol are also available in LED. It doesn't seem like you have an issue with LEDs. Your gripes are with the flashlight design. I use a Surefire C2 with an M61 and it works great with a pistol. I like...

    Toughest Pocket Clip

That is a great suggestion, and I will pass it along to him. However I think he was going to ask for it as a Christmas gift, so MP isn't a great way for him to get it. Something he can acquire new in his price range is probably best.

    Toughest Pocket Clip

I am trying to help my friend get a good LED light for EDC. Here are his requirements: -- VERY sturdy pocket clip that is tough enough to use outside a pocket and just clip on a belt. It must be removable/replaceable in case it gets messed up and needs bent back into shape or replaced. --...

Tired of drop-ins that don't fit

Mine is a little wiggly no matter what too, but still acceptable for use... but the difference between having the head all the way down and a gap just big enough to let light through is huge. The smallest gap makes the clip really loose.
