Some goodies for the 3c build and I threw in the aaa minimag with the order. Sleek little light, I like it.

I got the 6 cell bulbs to try with 2x li-ions. They work nicely, but the bi pin adapter doesn't seem to seat as far in as the krypton bulbs, so it can't focus the beam as well. This beamshot is the max focus I can get. Is that normal with these adapters?

Unfortunately, I experienced same issue with the adapters. That's as far as they go into the socket (with either early or later sockets) Tightening down the knurled nut didn't help, only made removal harder.

@fivemega.. It is bottomed out. Proper focus is impossible.

It seemed like it was bottomed out so at least I know I'm not the only one. Pretty goofy design, not ideal but is still useable.

I suppose you could sawp out a modern switch assembly that uses a bi-pin as the bulb from stock.

I have a 2C that had a krypton but I wanted to make it brighter. I used a bi-pin 6 cell bulb/adapter combo and had to finish "setting" the adapter by tightening the collar enough to get that last little sink but it went in. Getting it back out though.... it's stuck in the assembly pretty good.

Now that I know 2x li-ions are good to go with the 6 cell bulb I can order a bunch of pr bulbs from genesis lamp.

The adapters can go in the parts bin with all the other parts that didn't quite work out.

Wow, that's a total ripoff. If I had known that I would have bought straight from you instead.

KG, I ground down a few spots that I thought were hanging up before I found the actual problem. The second rung from the bottom of the reflector was far too big for the opening in the head.
That's the usual issue, they're designed to fit D head openings with fatter belly.
I like the beam, huge hotspot, bet it throws like a hound dog?

Makes sense, I figured that was the case. Haven't tested throw yet but I will on tonight's pup walk. I'll take the E1 hyper throw to compare.

At the park the 6 cell bulb did a nice job, and out throws a malkoff m61n by a smidgen. The potted frosted carley 1499's also came in and they are very nice. First pic is max focus, second is max flood. The 1499's out throw an m61n by a fair amount. Not bad for a 40+ year old mag.

Well this $2 gun show find tuned out to be a little more costly in the end, but turned out really nice. I've got four of the carleys and three 6 cell bulbs for 2x li-ion use and c to aa adapters so I can use eneloops for the original bulb. All of them look great out of the OP reflector. I'll likely stock up on more 6 cell and 3 cell bulbs and call it good. This was fun.
