Great replies everyone... even you Sarge:sick2: thankfully sarcasm does show through on the net;) And Paul.... best comeback ever:thumbsup:

Thanks for the replies and the pics. If you love cats keep them comming.

BTW... I love dogs too. If I had a wife and kids I would probally have got one instead of a cat. With a cat I can still go out for the weekend:naughty:

This is Judas (named after the band) our stray kitty. We found her abandoned at 5 days old and hand-raised her. She likes looking up whenever I do ceiling beam shots.

When we got him, he had hazy eyes. After weeks went by they enlarged. Shortly after this picture they had to be removed. Glaucoma.

I'm glad your cat's okay but that's freaky for a non-photoshopped cat photo.

This cat is an umpteenth generation garbage dump cat that my brother got from a dump next to the factory where he works. She's small, acrobatic and single-minded (snatched food out of our hand on a couple of occasions when she was a kitten). I think some wild traits were bred back in due to natural selection, they had to find their own food and avoid being killed by cat-haters. Here's some shots I've got of her while she's relatively still:

Love 'em.

I found a kitten that was abandoned ten years ago and she became my best friend. Smartest cat I've ever met. Knew what lots of words meant, fish, tuna, food, outside, birds and many others. In Febuary Zoe was diagnosed with kidney failure. By March she was diagnosed with heart disease. She died in my arms on July second.

I still cry. I'm at work typing this and my eyes are getting wet.

Back in November, I heard a kitten crying in the woods next to my apartment. Went out and found a tiny kitten that was just weeks old. Someone had dumped him next to our dumpster. We took him in and he's become an awesome cat. Charlie will be a year old the middle of next month.

After we get settled into the new house we are going to the local animal shelter to get another cat and a dog. I'll never pay for a pet. So many cats and dogs out there that need homes.

i had allways been a dog person, but when someone came to me about taking thier cat i couldnt refuse since my soon to be wife was a cat person. unfortunatly a year later he was diagnosed with FIP. a year and a half later and i now have 4 inside cats, and 3 outside cats (a mom and two kittens just showed up one day). unfortunatly, none will lick my fae until it hurts like my first cat did.

Strider (L) and Cappuccino (R).

Strider is 8 years old now and about 21 pounds....his nickname is "slim".

Cappuccino is a 12 year old insulin dependant female.
She knows when it's time for her shot and comes to get me if I don't give it to her on time. She will roll onto her side so I can give her the injection.

I've seen many threads where people mention their dogs, but I don't see as many mentions to cats. I'm not looking to start a dog vs cat debate... I'm just wondering.

...snip...

He looks like a younger version of my Casi (look up the name from Brazil, and you'll know where he got his name)

I currently have 3 cats (or should I say they have us) - Coquette (who is 20.5 years old!), Casi and Suiki, who are brothers, and a bit more than 7. We actually inherrited them last October when a very good family friend died. We had promised to look after her cats, so we are

In January, we lost Coquette's best friend, Tuxedo. He was just shy of 17, and was (also just shy) of being a 7 year VAS survivor. He just got sick, and died - went to the vet, nothing we could do. He started filling with fluids, blood chemistry went nuts, etc - we tried for a few days, but it became obvious that he wasn't going to make it, and we did the humaine thing. I miss him every day - he was a "doggy" cat - came when called, played fetch, etc

We've had cats every since I was young. So far by my count we've been owned by 8 cats (that includes my brother's cat whom we minded for 14 months). This doesn't include all the strays we've rescued or continue to feed. The thing I find fascinating about cats is that they may be domesticated, yet they still retain most of their wildness and independence. And despite millenia of living among humans, what makes them tick remains largely a mystery. You can never fully dominate a cat in the way you can be master of other animals. Rather, you end up being equals. Or they end up dominating you.

Local folks are taken to calling me the cat whisperer. I don't have any pics of the new cat, so here's my cousins tabby:

Cats are pretty trippy IMO. Haven't had one for awhile. I'm not much into pets now but if that changes I'll have a cat. I like frogs too.

I love cats! We happen to have 4. We just recently adopted 2 kittens. Our oldest cat (P'nut) is almost 17 years old, then there is Catsby who is 7-8 years old. And our kittens are are 3-4 months old. The kittens are Lily & Raisin.

We have 2. Gray Guy (Lucky) wandered up and "adopted" us. We decided he needed a companion so we hit the shelter and a kitten reached out and tapped Pattie on the shoulder. I call her Bright Eyes but her real name is Queen Nefertiti.

Gray Guy is the boss of everything, just ask him. Very playful and loves to run. He gets called Mazda sometimes. Zoom Zoom. We have a 20 X 45 screened patio that they can rule.

Brught Eyes is so black that when you shine a laser pointer on her the light disapears. It is hard to take pictures of her because the auto focus systems on most cameras do not like her. And sometimes she is called "Harley Girl" because she is "Rotten, Rotten, Rotten".

After 8 years they are truly our FUR KIDS.

Like them when they are house cat and indoors.

Don't like them when other people' cats come poop and dig in my garden/yard, then they get to make aquentance with my air rifle. Really should just get a live trap someday.

I think I just learned there's a five quote max for multi quote:thinking: I tried to quote more but they dissapeared. I've wanted to reply to everyone, but I just haven't had the time. I'm glad I started this thread since a lot of people have posted great pics and storys. Some funny jokes too:crackup: On with some replies....

What's with blackcats? people used to hate them, now they're everywhere. I got one too.

edit: oh, and he's extremely interested in light, he is very friendly and personable (I am starting to think this is a trait of black cats), and he can jump like crazy!

When I adopted my cat there were five other black cats in different cages there. Mine wasn't even there, the woman who was fostering him brought him from home. She(Kim) told me they have a real hard time placing black cats into homes... because of superstition:green: It should have taken at least five days for them to get back to me, but since I was looking at a black cat they got back to me the next day:party: She also told me in the next month they can't place any black cats because of holloween and some peoples evil torturous natures:mad:

Mine jumps like crazy too.

Cats Vs Dogs thread, that'll be as explosive as a why is Brand X flashlight so expensive.:poke:

Mostly I am a dog guy at heart but animals and the people that care for them are great, no matter how you look at it! Come to think of it, I have known some mighty fine cats!

That's why I don't want the thread to turn into that. All animals can be cool... it depends on the specific animal. I had a iguana that was awsome... I would put him on my shoulder and go out for a couple hours... he would just hang out.

Nice kitties everyone! From my avatar, you can guess I like cats. Actually, I like all kinds of animals, but cats are my number one.

Here is Snickers in a box  He started showing up at my parents house out in the country in 2006. He had a fine cat personality in that he wasn't afraid when approached and he followed me when I took a walk in the woods. With 3 cats, my parents couldn't take another and asked me to. I had a cat and was on the fence about having another. The next weekend I visited my parents, I decided to take him home. He is still with me now.

snickers1.jpg

The big cat on the left is Simon, my other cat. I got him in 1997 as my first pet since moving out on my own. He too had a wonderful personality. He was always at the door to great me when I got home and he loved to be near. I'd take him to my parents house every so often where he and their cats would play wrestle. Never a hiss or a fight, just pure play.

One September day last year I found him crying and gurgling breaths. I rushed him to the vet and after 3 days of vets and specialists, he died in my arms. He was found to have had a bad heart that threw a clot. This was the most traumatic, heart wrenching moment in my life. I miss him.

Sorry about the downer.

The pic of Snickers had all the women at my work gushing;)

It's not a downer at all... it's the circle of life. I still miss my favorite cat from about 19 years ago.

This is probally the most concice description about cats I've ever read:thumbsup:

It makes her happy, what can I say.

She must be a really special female:D

Thanks to everybody for keeping this thread going:twothumbs
