Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

Awsome work, I really like how it turned out! Glad the lens worked out for you. Seeing that you bored the threads out of the bezel you probably could have fit a larger lens? I sized those taking into account for the inner threads, largest that would fit with the stock inside threads.

It's dark now...where are the beamshots?! :grin2: :poke::popcorn:

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

Thanks guys! Was fun to build.

Will, right a bigger lens would fit, but it wouldn't matter, so slight and the o-ring still covers it good.

Sorry no time for beamshots tonight, tomorrow I promise :D. But heres some proof that it works:tinfoil: Just a quick photo, I'll get better ones with better color representation tomorrow..

teaser shot (on low):

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

Now this is classic thinking outside the box old school CPF style modding. It is very nice to see a classic brought back to life and it loks like you will have a very slick little light when finished.

Bravo SPC.....just out of curiousity how much have you invested in the cost of this project minus the cost of the actual light? I have 5 of these LS versions and while they are all tweeked a little they are nothing like this. I am thinking hard on attempting this mod myself.

I am REALLY interested in this mod also.
Please let me know if you are willing to let go of one of your arcs

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

Thanks again!

lets see, will cost you about (with shipping):

1' teflon wire..............less than 1$
optic and rebel...........about 25$
machining+heatsink.....about 10$ if you were to go to someone
AA epoxy..................had extra from previous build
IMR rcr123 cell...........about 10$
tri-flupic...................about 43$

Around 85$ not including the host. Yea, you can buy a cheaper and brighter light- but whats the fun in that :duh2: Plus its a classic risen from the dead..

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

I got the flupic settings all figured out. Its funny when you first read the manual its like hmm looks complicated.. But then once you get it, its so easy:tinfoil:

On low setting, doesn't get warm at all.
On medium, it gets a little warm, no worries
On full throttle, it gets a little warmer- Not bad at all! I just left it on full out for about 10 min. and I thought it was going to get hot but it stayed at the warm stage.

I had what I thought was a nice white q5 d10. This thing makes it look very blue. So much nicer.. :D

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

What is the estimated lumens on MAX?
Also what was the final thickness of your heatsink?

Really nice work!

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build

Im not a beamshot expert, but I tried:crazy: If I compare it to my d10 id estimate about double the lumens. However, there really isn't much throw, alot more flood..

Oh and about the heat= I tested it with the regular AW rcr123 and didn't get hot. Today I tried it with an IMR rcr123 and it does get hot (on max) (not damaging hot but hot enough to make you go woa!) also considerably brighter. I would stick with bursting on MAX to be safe:cool:

close up comparing the rebel-arc to a d10 q5 (both on Max)

5 or so feet from the wall (compared with d10 on max)

Ceiling shot and some wall shots (compared to d10)

Outside shot are impossible! They just wouldnt come out.. Heres a control and then the shot from about 20'

Any tips on outdoor shots would be greatly appreciated

Re: ARC LS tri-rebel build *completed+beamshots*

I did a litttle work on the arc host itself, I dont think you can call it an arc anymore

I stripped the ano, smoothed out the knurling and any scratches, also shortened the tailcap. Then brushed it:naughty:

Very NICE job!!!
good to see the Arc LS First Run lives on.....

have not been active lately, lost track of all new developments.
are there anymore tri-flupic's available?

once upon a time ... a long time ago... before burnout set in.
I too had all sorts of energy on these type projects :D

Wow!

I was intrigued by the earlier posts, and thought the initial mod turned out really well. But that re-finish is something special. Great work!
