I have been a member of CPF for a while... but.. as you can see by my post count...I tend to search and read rather than post... BUT

I have searched the forum for help with this problem .. and found nothing.. so I'll ask here.

It took me a long time to put this light together, but, it was worth it...

Unfortunately, I knocked the light off the table and it landed face first onto a piece of steel.... and the KT-1 lens is now cracked.

I have emailed Surefire and included a photo to show the problem and I don't know if they will be able to help...but... does anyone know of somewhere I can get a replacement pyrex lens for the KT-1?

Thanks in advance.

Surefire does not really answer emails. Give them a call and they'll fix it.

They do answer emails, just that they take a VERY LONG time to respond. If you can, call them.

Just got off the phone with Surefire... and it looks like this is going to be a very long process.

I'll be putting a beam cover on the turbo head... if I ever get it back.

Well... I got the KT-1 back from Surefire... and they replaced the window.

Unfortunately... they also damaged the head quite badly.

This is just some of the damage.

The head was in mint condition when I sent it... apart from the cracked window.

Disappointed.

It could be the angle, but it looks like alot of the damage was done prior to anodizinig.

On a sidenote, I've heard of atleast one other member who sent in a head/bezel for repair and received a working unit that was physically damaged (similiar to your situation). I believe it was also a KT4 head.

I want to conclude this thread.

Surefire's International reps were great to deal with... and although the damage to the turbohead most likely happened on it's return to the UK... Surefire sent me a complete KT-1 unit as compensation.

I am going to install beam covers on both of the turboheads to protect them.

Thanks to those that helped in this thread.

Just for future information as I missed this when it was initially posted.

I would make Edgar Brothers, the UK importer, my first port of call for warranty issues. It might save your light a lengthy trip back and forth across the Atlantic.

Edgar Brothers does not carry out Surefire warranty repairs... they just ship the items back to Surefire.

I used Edgar Brothers as the middle man for the repair... but... I suspect that the damage happened when the KT-1 was with them.
