Hi moddoo,
I'm not sure if this question has been asked, but is it possible to have 3 different tinted XP-Es installed?
Say a WC, WG and warm white emitter?
Could this perhaps improve the overall CRI of the light?
Thanks!
would it be possible if one of your drop-ins can be custom-fitted with 2x narrow w/ 7A warm, and 1x frosted-wide w/ R2 WG?
3-levels driver..... low,med,hi
.
Confirmed by Cutter,
they will build mixed bin triples for me. :twothumbs
Just look on their site and pick your emitters, and let me know what you think will be best.
I'll have one drop in with the R2 WG, Q5 WM, and the P4 7C emitter..
LO-MID-HI driver, frosted wide optics and narrow lens front both loose,
+ international shipping.
Total's $80 + $8 + $6 = $94, is that correct?
Thanks for making these for us
Couple of questions, how well do the lights hold their regulation, and is heat a problem on continuous usage on high?
Thanks!
Moddoo, just managed to read this entire thread... this is fantastic! I'm going to see if I can rummage up some extra funds for this drop-in... It's going to be interesting to compare output, runtimes vs. my P7 and MCE driver... Boy, just when I thought my purchases were done for at least a couple of months (custom 3xR2 Alu bike light housing on-order, new LED thrower, new Li-Ion batteries, new P7 drop-in from previous month)... this comes along...Runtime would need to be calculated.
I'll have some AW 18650 2600mA soon for testing.
Depending on the driver and battery selected, you can guesstimate around 45min on high. Medium should net a couple hours of 340+ led lumens...

I'll be using the dropin in a solarforce L2. How do I get the 3 light levels? I already mailed a check for the dropin; should I have also ordered a driver as well? Incidentally, what is a driver? This is only my 2nd mod and my 1st AA mag hotwire was fairly simple.... thanks

FYI, the 17mm driver board in the Deal Extreme SKU 11836 R2 single mode P60 drop-in uses a Yobon YB1682 buck converter IC that is rated to deliver 2A output. Don't ask me why they are using that IC for an LED that should be driven at 1A. But if you have this drop-in, the driver might be a possibility for this triple Cree XP-E drop-in, assuming the driver runs properly (I get some odd results when powering the driver with a bench power supply and the current draw is completely different for batteries when measuring the current at the tail). The IC itself is rated from 3.6V to 20V, so in theory you could drive the triple XP-E with a lot of different battery configuration options. I need to do some additional tests on this driver.
