How do you use your coloured LED light?

I was thinking it would require a circuit. Like a tone generator for a speaker.

but a heckof a lot higher freq. and more adjustable.

Did I say that ? I think the idea was to point out that under red light red things are very hard to see. If you write in red in a paper you can't see what you wrote under a red light.
Maybe I have to rewrite that in a better way.
