I did find these 2 interesting homemade solutions for heating :

Sounds viable for a short period. You will likely need some fresh air to live past a few hours, so a good piece of plywood and a seesaw would make a good supplement to these solutions. I'll also look into a battery operated carbon monoxide detector. Solution 1 is definitely viable to boil water and cook indoors.

LOL gonna try that next time my apartment a/c malfunctions. Dam blowing cold air when its snowing outside...

I tried the paint can one and it works great! 2 1 pint cans at once and I was in a sweat in minutes. brought the temperature up from normal room temp to another +4F. I tested it in my bedroom (12X12) and one of those took 10 minutes to bring the temp up by about 2F from normal room temperature. Just be real careful around them and don't forget you need some new oxygen every now and then.
