Led lights with infinitely variable brightness?

Yeah, there are a lot of lights with infinitely-variable brightness, but you have to fiddle with pressing/holding buttons or twisting tailcaps on & off due to the digital ramping. Three big problems with this UI: 1) takes time, 2) no memory, except maybe two modes, and 3) cannot adjust output before you turn the light on!

What we are missing is a nice 'n' easy twist collar on or near the bezel to INSTANTLY get the output you want and leave it there to have it available when you turn the light on again. Or, just as importantly, to select your output BEFORE you ever turn the light on (think GITD collar markings).

That would be the ideal variable output. None of this "wait for ramping" stuff... yes, some types of ramping are quicker, but then it is harder to precisely select the output you want. I'd pay 2x the price, or more, for physical selectability rather than digital ramping that is more gimmicky than functional.

So get a fenix or dosun or nitecore with a selector ring. SR3's are on sale right now at 30% off, and you can get a 18650 body to go along with it.

Nitecore has the Infilux series of lights that have infinite variable output. I have the IFD2. Good light. 260 lumens on 2 AA batteries.
