I had to sand down the PM emitter board to fit under the reflector. No modifications were done to the reflector itself.

Hey guys,
The so17xa, according to the drawing, is just a bit shorter than the NX05 and it's diameter is similar to the NX05 if your were to remove the lip flange that skirts around the the front end of the NX05.
I just made another cool revisit using the so17xa in a L1 head. I'll upload the pics later and post a new thread.
Regarding pics of the 27 mm VS the 30 mm optic, I leave that to sombody else.

Just a thought, are these the new reflectors you guys are using, ie just the cone, or the old ones with the cylinder that comes back down the outside?
The units I have are variations with the three legs for standoffs. It would appear that one style has a shortened leg for standing on the Lux III star and the other is designed to have the legs on the same plane as the Luxeon heat sink. I haven't determined which is shown in the final drawing. In either case, the reflector will seat on the black rim around the LED's lens.
