I was using an old 1 x CR123A host with an XP-G2 P60 last night and I found I really like the beam profile.

Nowadays some of the 1 x 18650 or even 2 X CR123A lights are smaller than my HDS rotary or new Surefire 1 x CR123A lights.

I wonder if there is anything small with XP-G3 and a reflector with a head of 1 inch or less with a nice hotspot? I don't won't a pencil beam. I do need usable spill but my sc64 (very floody) has taught me I like a hotspot.

I was thinking a neutral XP-G3 could really make a nice beam profile with a reflector at 300-400 lumens with 1 or 2 CR123A. I want pocket carry with a clip so was aiming at 1 x CR123A but I'm expanding to 2 x CR123A to get what I am looking for.

Surefire is too expensive for me and I prefer a reflector anyway.

I would look into the Nitecore SRT3. May not be as throwy as you would like on Primary CR123s, but I find that it has a nice hotspot with a decent amount of spill. Very nice size and is really easy to use.

Thanks but only 4500 cd with li ion battery. Just typical for its class and size.

Now that you are allowing yourself to go a little larger, you might consider the EagTac DX3B Mini.
Head 0.9 inches, body 0.85 inches.
Length 3.2 inches.
It runs on an 18350 LiIon, but it's output is amazing with a

  • CREE XHP35 HI E2 Cool White LED
    • LED lumen: 1870
    • ANSI FL-14 lumen: 1380
  • Center lux: 16,500 lux
  • Beam distance: 280 yards / 257 meters

XHP in a small head is always floody. I prefer XPL HI or XPG2

Eagletac D25C modded by Vinh with a black flat or dedomed XPG2 should work for you. The driver is designed for 16340 but works with primary cell CR123 only less bright, which I just tried with mine.
It throws incredibly for its size.
