There she is. I'm leaving it on the crate as I plan on moving soon. For now I will cover the top with some plywood to make it look neater.

Looks great Mac. I'm jealous. That 1+5/8" bore is gonna be nice to have for sure. Are you keeping the combo machine?

Yes I'm keeping the combo machine :)

I'm not to happy with the new machine so fat but hopefully that will change. I think they gave me a BUM 3 jaw chuck as the runout of around 0.015 which is horrible. The 8" 4 jaw has around 0.002. My old machine only has 0.0001.

I was curious how the fit and finish was going to be. That's a real bummer about the RO. I have a really old 3 jaw that I have to use machinable jaws on because of RO. I hope to be able to afford a nice 6-jaw set-tru at some point. :naughty:

How do the ways and screws look? At this point would you recommend this machine others?

The machine is super tight, I have less than 0.0001 play in the leadscrews. There is zero play in the gib. The quality looks good for an import. If it where an american machine it would probably be $15k :)

How's the runout on the spindle itself? I personally would not bother with the craptastic chucks that come with those machines - you buy a nice Bison 3 or 6 jaw, and a backplate, and machine the backplate ON the machine - waiting to stress relieve between roughing/finishing

I agree with you 100% the stock chuck are garbage though my old machine has treated me well.

The Spindle has only a couple of tenths of runout on the flat and taper.

Mac, check to see if the jaws are placed in the correct order 1-1 2-2 3-3. 0.015" is way way out.

You can always grind them if you're up to the task.

Congrats again my friend.

Measure the jaws, they may have been stamped wrong. Move them around to different positions and see if the .015" changes.

Thanks for the pictures!

Have fun.
