Double that, I bet, if you want a battery to run it.

To me, I am more interested in brightness at hour 3, hour 6 and hour 9. So, I bet it aint the brightest after, say, 5 hours of use.

I suppose a backpack with a good car battery inside might be somewhat feasible-costwise and runtimewise.

You mean 'world's most expensive' surely...? As some one has pointed out, it's the venerable Lupine Betty. I'm sure there are plenty of NightLightnings or homemade lights around that would outshine the Betty, but by the time you get around to judging such distinctions you're likely to be blind (or nightblind) anyway!

But if someone makes a complex reflector that doesn't put light above the horizontal, that would be okay.

Check out Pethelman's amazing XM-L upgrade of his Philips LBL. Also, his own DS-1400 can be had with horizontally oriented lenses.
