Panasonic alkalines decent?

There is a "Everything One Dollar" stores near my house. I had never been in there so stopped by. They are selling Panasonic alkaline 4aa, 4aaa, 2c, 2d battery packs for $1.00. The date stamp on them is 2008.

Panasonic batteries decent? Anybody?

Historically they were one of the best and have been for over 39 years - I used to sell them. I believe they were the only brand to have the "Good Housekeeping" approval.

Like every other brand, I've had a few old, used, cells leak a little but not horribly. Unless something has changed, they should be good. BTW a 2008 date may indicate they were made in 2003 or possibly 2001 if seven years is used for expiration.
