2400mah NiMH AA cells?

Looking for new cells for my digital camera, I went to the local electronics shop... I was very surprised to find a pack of 2400mah "Majestic" cells at €11, when 2300mah cost about €14.
I bought them, and so far they have behaved well, but there's no way I can tell if they really are 2400mah cells as I don't use my digicam enough to make precise measurements.
Anyway, do you think cells like these can exist at those prices, or have I just bought a pack of 4 2000mah or so cells with "2400" printed on them?

First off, the mAh number is nearly useless between manufacturers. Maybe they are 2400's if you discharge them very slowly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sanyo is a top brand and their 2100's are $2 US ( €1.58) each and 2300's are $2.5 US (€1.97). Also, 2000+ cells are fatter and heavier than lesser capacity ones.

So if they are cheap (<€2 each), light, (<30g) and thin (<18.5mm) I'd suspect they are not real high-capacity cells.

I don't pay a premium for higher-cap cells - especially when mAh ratings are relative and the price/performance curve is logrithmic. I don't see a point in paying twice as much for a nominal 5-15% increase in capacity that I likely won't notice.

If $20 gets me 4 2300mAh cells (9200mAh), or 8 2000mAh cells (16,000mAh), who's laughing all the way to the bank?

I agree... but those cells are just as heavy as the 2100mah that came with my Varta battery charger, and didn't cost much at all.
They definitely are high capacity, only I don't know whether the quoted specs are real or just a scam. It seems weird that, if 2400mah AA cells can be made with such a small cost, Sanyo or somebody else aren't doing it.
