I... shall we say... am not fond of Coast. Here's a thread with far too many details. Basically, they're low quality lights with over-hyped marketing. Since you haven't posted what you actually need/want this light for, I can't give any recommendations.

So, what are your requirements?

I've owned several coast products and I can tell you that they suck, I don't know about the models that your asking about but I wouldn't take a chance on them given what I've seen from them in the past.

I also don't care for how they advertise there products, completely over hipped.

Tigerhawk, was just curious really...they really looked the part (nice design, well made, solid looking ect) and they would have been used for standard EDC...but after reading through that thread I'm slightly put-off to say the least...they don't seem to have a lot of fans around these parts.

I like to think I've made a few informed purchases from reading the threads here (and the reviews at FLR) and I've not been disapointed with any of the 'popular lights' touted around this forum, so I'll stick with the opinions I trust and give these Coast/LED-Lensers a miss for now.

Thanks for your input, you may have saved me some cash and a fair bit of disapointment.

EDIT: Thanks to you as well Lebkuecher, obviously giving me the same message as Tigerhawk = Stay well away from these LED-Lensers.

Just to muddy the water CFU, I'm prepared to say that my Led Lenser David 19 is a perfectly acceptable torch. Not up there with an HDS obviously...

I have one of their 1.25W (3xAAA) tactical lights (model 7736) and I have been very pleased with it so far. It hasn't seen much use yet so I can't speak to its long-term reliability. To me it seems fairly well-made.

By the way, a similar Coast light is on closeout at Target right now for around $21 (marked down from $30). Not sure of the exact model number though.

lol Gadgetnerd, that was bound to happen sooner or later, but I'll still give 'em a miss for now...probably better stuff to spend my hard earned cash on in the near future though (like one of those Longbow Micra's that I noticed in your sig line)...another light I'd like to try out, seems to get good press even though it's not that powerful...great regulation and lovely build quality by all accounts.

So many lights...so little cash.

BTW, cbdudley. Target is out of bounds for me...they don't ship outside of the US.

I have one of the 3AAA model 7736 lights also. It's what first "led" me to LED lights, then to FlashlightReviews.com, and finally here to CPF. I still carry one nightly at work and I haven't had a problem after a year. It's OK for a fairly floody light for general use for short periods at a time, which is how I use it. It's an OK light, but not real great, especially considering the cost. There are better lights for the money. The one area I really like on these lights is the beam pattern. I like the even quality of the beam and the gradual transition from bright center to dim side spill. I wish I could find a similar beam on a regulated light that used a driver and a 3W LED for better brightness and battery life.

Hold on just a minute, CFU - I just read your sigline, and unless it lists lights that you WANT rather than OWN, your question is confusing to me. What's wrong with your Arcs, Fenixes, Huntlight, or HDS?

As near as I can figure, you just want another cool light. That's flashaholism for you! :grin2:

My first EDC light was the SLPPL4AA. My current EDC (a lot less bulky than the ProPoly) is an L2T and P1. The Arcs and HDS shouldn't be too bad for EDC, either (understatement of the year).

I hope to get a Gladius and a Striker-VG when my MasterCard arrives, so I'll probably try to EDC those for at least a few days.

Seriously, though - I hope you EDC your B42XRGT with you everywhere you go, because that's one SWEET light!

Oh, and DonShock - have you considered the Surefire L4 with the "wall of light" effect? Other possibilities are any Surefire or Night-Ops (or similar) light with a Surefire Beamshaper attached.

Guilty as charged Tigerhawk - The urge to buy lots of flashlights is upon me...I blame you folks and this forum for my dependancy on "glowing things".

Most definately...the best flashlight I own, bar none...I am also drooling with anticipation for the new HDS releases that are (supposedly) imminent.

Speaking of a coast lenser I carry a very tiny one on my keychain for an emergency light source. It is not very bright but it does throw a spot of light 6 feet that can be seen in a lighted room. I have had it for almost 2 years and the batteries are still good. I just tested the 4 batteries with my trusty Radio Shack #22-090 battery tester and they still test good but just barely into the green. I did put a little silicone dielectric compound on the batteries a year ago so they maintain contact better. The pocket is a humid environment and bad on electrical connections. The swivel broke within the first month so I filed off the sides of the tailpiece to make it into a ring and used a small S-hook to connect it to my keyring.

From my computer files:
V1 Power Lenser (white) by Coast Cutlery Co. $15
www.coastcutlery.com Lifetime warranty 1-800-426-5858
P.O. Box 5821 Portland, OR 97228
Uses 4 each AG13 (LR44) alkaline 1.5V batteries
100 hour battery life, 100,000 hr LED life

It looks like they do not even sell that exact model anymore but it looks like the V8 Model: LL7553 shown here:
