I picked up a Leatherman rebranded Fenix L1T v2.0 Cree Q2 in the combo Costco pack - I've been wanting an L1T for some time and this was a heck of a deal (with the Blast going into my car center console as backup).

I have to admit that the L1T really surprised me with how nicely made and useful it is as a task light. It is plenty bright on NiMH cells - seems to be about as bright as my Novatac 85P on max so the 93 lumens rating seems to not be exagerrated very much. Solid build quality, a very crisp and robust feeling forward clickie which is quite useful, and two well chosen light levels. While the low could be lower (I really like a low low but that somewhat necessitates a three level light to have a useful task level) but the low is a nicely chosen level that is pretty useful for most tasks - somewhere in the 15 lumen or so range (it falls between my Novatac primary and secondary levels which are set to 10 and 22 lumens). It would be interesting to get a Lifepo 3.0v 14500 and see how it does - get L2T performance in an L1T form factor...

But what is a really nice surprise is how creamy the beam is - the Q2 has a nice tint and the beam shape is a very smooth and bright hotspot with a clean and smooth transition to a useful sidespill. It is on the slightly floody side and is not a long range spotter, but for medium and short distances it is an excellent beam shape and perfect for around the house tasks - working under the cabinets or sink, etc...

I know it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the digital multi level lights - but the head twist mechanism is reliable and solid, easy to use and understand - and the beam and levels are very well considered for most uses.

It definitely seems to be under the radar and gets very little press - even from Fenix it seems - but should definitely be on folks list when looking for a simple to use and very well designed AA based light.

I saw that at Costco and was tempted to buy it, although I don't need another multi-tool or another L1T. It's a very good deal for the money. Maybe I'll buy one for a gift. BTW, there are a couple of threads on it already on CPF and one in the Marketplace.

I picked up one as well (been holding out for a good deal on something like this for a year and a half). I agree w/all your comments!

I know there are some threads on the combo pack deal - but really just wanted to comment specifically on the light - both in the Leatherman and Fenix forms - which was a really pleasant surprise and I think often overlooked when the "I need a AA light" threads pop up.

I posted some comments in the deal thread but since the light has greater distribution than that I thought it was worth another mini review. I should try to get some beam shots - it really has a very nice beam.

I tried the Leatherman "L1T" with a split CRV3, it was nearly as bright as a P1D Q5 on turbo. Very nice:thumbsup:.

Plenty bright enough for most uses on 1 NiMH, but may have to break down and get a L2P body for $12.99 from (I think:o)Brightguy.

If you want it to be brighter get a 2X AA or CR123 body for it here: https://www.4sevens.com/index.php?cPath=27_39

Will the L1T head will fit on the L2D body? If so, I'm buying one from Lighthound. They have it here for $12.99. I've been wanting a 2xAA flashlight and I've got 2 L1T heads that aren't doing much right now.

Edit...I think I answered my own question. The search function is my friend:

Yes it will fit. I have my L1T V2 head on one of my L2D bodies now.
Lighthound is $12.99 plus shipping.

I did that a few months ago with my rebel 80 version, and love it. Forward clicky with a smooth beam and plenty of light. Only 24 mins of runtime on high though from the LiFePo4.

I believe the L1T clicky doesn't work with the L2D body. So you may lose some of the functionality. No momentary on.

One of my L1T heads is currently on a P2D body. I took the "guts" of the L1T forward clicky out of the L1T tailcap and stuck them in the P2D tailcap. I'll use this for my L1T/L2D. 2xAA forward clicky fun. :twothumbs

That is incorrect. It won't fit the P2D body but it will fit all 2X AA bodies.
I believe the bodies from lighthound come with tailcaps.

The L1T v2.0 is my EDC. I love this light.

The LiT v2.0 head will fit the L1D, L2D, and P2D bodies.
The L1T v2.0 tailcap will fit the L1D and L2D bodies. It will NOT fit the P2D body. For what it's worth, it will fit the older L1P and L2P bodies, but the v2.0 head won't.

I DO need another multi-tool so I'll take a look at the Leatherman combo-pack. Nothing wrong with having two L1T v2s, and I could get an L2D body, and have 1 x AA and a 2 x AA light.
