now now John, that's not how we treat newcomers

jawnn, see if this helps with the ambiguity.
There's alot of details that goes into the work of LEDs, while the concept of light is simple, adapting the technology into your personal application is a whole other matter, and simplicity often isn't part of its characteristics.

Now for us to help we need to know what your dealing with, you can't expect the towing truck to find you if you don't give him the road name, right?

I need a small head lamp
Small headlamp for what purpose? Auxiliary? Main? Fog?

for a motor cycle
Whats your motorcycle? Brand? Model?

Whats your alternator size? If there's a battery, what capacity?

....fixture and all that uses LED emitters.

Fixtures using emitters is no problem, but for what voltage and for what purpose [Reach/throw emitter pattern would require optics, flood/spill pattern would need reflectors]
Are you retrofitting the existing fixtures or is this going to be a standalone fixture that requires waterproofing?

That depends on what you need help with. The forum to some extent acts as the adviser, but the project organization, initiation, and experimenting is the responsibility of your own.

If you don't plan on building your own, then word the thread as such and see if there are others who may have created similar fixtures that may be able to cut you a deal

Closing a thread would require a Private message of intent to a moderator, usually available moderators are posted on the index page of each subforum.
As for modification to an existing thread there should be an "edit" icon on the lower right in each of your own posts :)

Jawnn, I am going to building a 3,000 lumen vehicle light in the near future (very near future if you're interested). I will sell it for what I have into materials...about $150. It will be totally waterproof and have the ability to change between a pencil beam and a slightly wider beam. Let me know if you're interested.

Edit; Using a single bridgelux behind a 50mm reflector and aspheric lens driven at 2.5A inside of a 2.75" OD CNC turned housing.

Sorry, but I was just trying to get my point across. And, yes, for a matter of fact, she did. But I wasn't rolling my eyes. I was just frustrated at a lack of communication. But thank you for insnuating my mother taught me no manners.
Explain yourself better (in all of your threads) and much help will be recieved. Now, a few questions. You say motorcycle.
1) Does it have a battery, and alternator?
2) Are you trying to replace the headlight it currently has, or add additional lighting, such as flood-lights (aka: cornering lights, wide beam, light up the side of the road), spot-lights (light up things further away than the stock headlights), fog-lights (don't know of any actual fog-light beam pattern LED lights), etc.?
3) How much power is available (watts available after other things are already on)?
4) Why does it have to be LED? HID off-road lights are more reasonably priced, and high quality ones are pretty durable.

If it has to be LED, for whatever reason, take a look at Vision X off-road lights. They seem to have a decent product, but I think they use optics, not reflectors.

Read over all these responses, take some time to check the manual for your motorcycle, and get back to us.

Love my Vision X LED light.
They do use Optics. Sekonix in fact.

Jawnn, if you PM RelativeEng, He can tell you all about Vision X.
