Energizer NiMH Charger and Eneloops OK?

Hey guys...

I've got one of these chargers at the moment: Model #CHCC-A

Is this alright for charging Sanyo AA Eneloops 4 at a time?

Its output (for 4 cells) is 1.4V @ 360mA.
Each bay has its own LCD indicator.

The box says it terminates via timer, and the charging current is rather low, so I would have to say that it will probably overcharge the cells by a good amount. Does it say how many hours it takes to charge the batteries?

i would not use it on ANY cells. it is a dumb charger, 8.5hr timer

The only thing dumb chargers are good is a forming charge, and 360mA is too high IMHO to be good for even that.

Are they seriously still selling those wretched 2500's??

If you're looking to pinch pennies, the LaCrosse BC-700 is "almost" as good as that, and is going for USD $29.99 on Amazon right now. A little more if you add a fire extinguisher.

You can find independent channel chargers for a bit less, but really why bother when you're down to that price.

there are lots of smart chargers between the energizer piece of crap and the c9000. i see them on sale for as little as $10 all the time. the duracell cef23 is a good one for $10-20.

I second that recommendation for the CEF23, it also has a USB port for charging devices (from AC or 4AA's) in a pinch.

CEF23 "Mobile Charger" is on closeout at toysRus stores and website, for $13 with 2 batteries included. A current model is the CEF21 "indicator Charger" that come with 4 batteries for $30.. The value charger CEF14 sucks as bad as what you have.

If you can scrounge an AA charger that came with a Sony camera those all seem to be good ones.

Unfortunately, we can't get the Duracell CEF23 charger in Australia.

In fact, the availability of all electronic stuff like this (including even brand-name flashlights) is amazingly poor — considering our government tells us repeatedly that we're the "Lucky Country" — yeah, sure thing!

Anyway, I've sourced a smart (I think?) charger for $29-95 through a local electronics chain here:

I have just got my first lot of AA eneloops and I brought what I thought was a good charger for them ( it was'nt ).
So I bit the the bullet and got myself the Powerex MH-C9000 ( £ 50 out of Maplins ) and it is GREAT !!! :party::party::party:

this one looks OK with what little info is there. the Delta V for proper charge ending, the charge rate they aren't clear on if that is per pair or each... But again it looks OK
