I think this design is a winner. Now to perfect mode control on three different drivers :)

IMO your design is the winner. It makes more sense to run each dropin separately from its own battery -simpler design. With 4 18650s why not run 4 p60s?

If you make a batterypack with 4 18650-cells in parallell and you controll the drop-ins individually you can have one low output drop-in like a Malkoff M61LL and get really long runtime. Why 4 drop-ins?, smaller head and I would think that 3 is enough for most people.

this is just a really quick modell that I have done, there is much to improve. My idea is too unscrew the bezel and drop the p60 like on any other p60 host.

That is a great design, I like the latest version a lot. 4 batteries is great, and you can simplify things by having 3 switches, and one drop in can be powered by 2 batteries, while the other two are each powered by 1 battery

When I first saw this thread I was hoping for inline P60 hosts for two, something like this but doesn't rely on G2s

Have you seen my schematic back on post #19?

Instead of the 3 way selector swiitch you could use three separate clicky switches and remove the DPST switch.

Call me sentimental, but I love the TK45's Gatling gun look.

I guess there no rule saying that we must only have one design.

Nice rendering konig, but I do see one potential problem. Does your design rely on a glass lens (with the outer bezel holding the lens) that holds the dropins inside the host? Wouldn't that scratch up the glass lens? A quick and easy design remedy would be to have a short retaining ring for each dropin that screws on to hold each dropin in. In a regular P60 host it goes like this: body tube--negative spring--dropin--head. A retaining ring on your design would be: body tube--negative spring--dropin--retaining ring (shortened head). Think of it as typical P60 head that has been shrunk down to maybe 1/4 inch or 5-10mm so that the dropin is held in place securely. That way the bezel can be designed so that the glass lens doesn't come into contact with the dropins or bezel ring.

Nice concept with the three P60s all behind the main lens.

I suspect this will only ever be a custom job and never a production model. The market would just be too small, and the issues with multi mode drop-ins getting out of sync would mean only using single mode drop-ins or having to take it apart to sort the issue.

One solution would be to add individual momentary break switches for each module so you can tweak the mode setting one by one (plus a master switch of course).

Hardly anyone would bother swapping modules and by having three independent drivers rather than one designed to control all the emitters (like the TK45 and many others), you reduce the flexibility.

I'm a flashaholic, and totally get where you are coming from with this, but I don't think it is practical.

If you can make one to try out then go for it and let us know how you get on.

Yup pretty much what I was thinking except for the crenulated bezels for konig's design; no need for crenulations behind a glass lens. I see he has already updated his design.

I respectfully disagree. By having the option of putting in any three dropins desired by the user there is a TON of flexability.

I don't know why people keep bringing up the UI and mode switching aspect. I can't see why it hasn't already been solved in my schematic on post #19. Is there something wrong with the circuit design I posted? It works as far as I can see as long as all three dropins have the same modes (all dropins have L-M-H modes, etc.).
