Hate is such a strong word. I do not like lights with built in rechargeable cells. This type of lights is designed to be trashed due to the fact the rechargeable can not be replaced if it is depleted.
i really do hate them lol its hard enough fkr me to find one battery much less 3

There are worst things than a light that can used 3 AAA batteries in a carrier. Like being in the dark. I've picked up 3 of the eBay "tactical" zoomies for a $1ea at sales. All will run on 21700 + 18650 + 123a + 3 AAA. Nice to have so many choices even if it is a less than the best light. What chaps my backside are the proprietary batteries some lights take. Don't care about the cost unless it's pennies on the dollar it's a deal breaker 99.9% of the time, as are unreplaceable cells unless there is a VERY good reason & I haven't found one yet

I dont really like the 3x 123 lights. You cant just use a rechargable like you can with 1 or 2x 123. You can use a adapter but then its still only 3,7 volts. Too small for 2x18650, too big for single 18650. its a shame because I really like the length of them.

I really want to get 3x 123 fury anyway because I like the fury. Im not sure.

2*17500 (18500 if bored) will solve this problem :)

Personally, I don't like too small round lanterns on batteries CR2 and smaller. I often lose them, they are inconvenient to hold and it is not always convenient to change modes if there are several of them. Small flat lanterns are fine, they are wonderful, like Inova Microlight.

Thats like 1000 vs 2500 capacity. 2 17500 less capacity then 1 16650. Also I dont have those. But good to know. How well do led fury run on 8v vs original 9? Does the p3x also have the booster circuit for full regulation like p2x? If yes I might consider.

Under load 3xcr123 and 2x lithium ion is about the same. Around 7.4v. It can waver from that a bit depending on how heavy the load is. But not by very much. A light that uses three primary cells will never ever see nine volts. As far as the P3X, I'm not sure. But the fact that it has such a high voltage overhead means it does not need a boost circuit. Rechargeable batteries will be completely shot and there will still be enough voltage to be in regulation for three volt LED

I've bought many of the smaller 3-cell lights with the plastic carriers over the years, and all are in the trash now. When I want a flashlight that I know will work I still reach for my 3 or 4 C cell Maglights.

Dislikes, pet peeves...
  • 3xAAA : Often inferior driving electronics, broadly-inferior carriers to lose or break, and abusing the AAA formfactor when a single AA has better energy density
  • Zoomies : My experience with these has been on the cheap end of the spectrum, but they seem to sacrifice considerable robustness for a largely gimmicky feature
  • Alkaline dependence : Either the internal dimensions won't accommodate slightly fatter NiMH or the electronics demand nominal ~1.5V per cell (thus wasting a large percentage of the useful energy)
I've also got a disdain for being married to generally obsolete cell/battery formfactors: C/D cells, 6V lantern batteries, 9V batteries, 123A outside of actual tac lights (where that extra meat for 18##0 cells will critically impact size / performance), most SLA-based lights, coin cells (even the preferable 2032 with its energy density advantage vs other comers), required use of non 18650 / 21700 non-flattop li-ion cells.

Not terribly keen on permanently-integrated cells/batteries.

I've largely standardized on 1xAAA (keychain), 1xAA, 18650. Legacy lights are 1x / 2x123A, 2x / 4xAA, some C/D modified maglites, and two 12V SLA spotlights that have been in storage for years and surely need new batteries by now.

Also dont like aa/aaa ones that only take li-ion.
Yes, that's a weird design choice - especially when dual fuel drivers are readily available that will make the most of either chemistry. I can sort of understand it for designs like the Lumintop FWAA since the driver is surely a close derivative of its 18650/21700 FW* predecessors but it's not so interesting that I'm going to go out and acquire one.

Hate a flashlight? Really.
Dislike, maybe until the lights go out, but hate?
Wow.
Maybe edit the title with another word. One that rhymes, though.

which form factor of light do you not appreciate?

which form factor of light do you not elate?

which form factor of light do you spheroidically oblate?

which form factor of light do you not under the lens form condensate?

which form factor of light do you not want to create?

which form factor of light do you not feel sedate?

which form factor of light do you not think could be the official light of the state?

which form factor of light do you feel has smooth edges that could be serrate?

which form factor of light do you want to sow or plant or hatch or germinate or incubate?

Soda can lights. I get it, but they end up so fat and not comfortable to hold. I also hate 3 cell lights irrationally. If my charger can charge 3, it'll take 4, squeeze one more

As has been said earlier on, hate is way too strong of a word for this.

I do dislike the Fenix style of lockout mode. When the light is in lockout it will blink twice every time the button is hit. This means your pockets will flash if you bump into things or other stuff touches the lights button. Lockout should prevent the light from turning on, that's what it's for. At least Olight does that one right.

Oh, and I do dislike proprietary batteries (I'm looking at you, Olight).
